Health Communication

The first two papers are short literature reviews I wrote in my health communication course in the Fall of 2023. The first focuses on the effects Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease have on communication, relationships, and health care, as perceived by patients and family members. The second paper focuses on how end-of-life communication, specifically mortality communication and final conversations, affect coping among family caregivers after the death of a loved one.

The third paper was my final project for this course. I expanded upon my research on Dementia from earlier in the semester and evaluated media representations of the illness. I analyzed the 2014 movie Still Alice to understand how the movie’s representation fits in with existing research. This paper was published in the Spring 2024 issue of my university’s undergraduate research journal, Columns.
